This is Reality Fitness at its purest — no fancy gym, no expensive equipment, no excuses. Just Carla and Mark, fresh from their three-mile morning walk, ready to show you how to kickstart your fitness journey with something as simple as one minute on the stairs.

The Morning Walk

Carla and her husband Mark start their day before sunrise with a three-mile walk to get their coffee. "One of the things I like about doing it early is that I can check it off," Carla says. "It's done for the day and then I can move on to do the other things that I like to do."

She's honest about the hardest part of winter walking: "We sit in bed and we start looking at, should I get up, should I not get up, what's the temperature, what's the weather?" The solution is simple and universal: "Just put on your gear, get outside, and get started." By the end of their walk, they were peeling off layers because they'd warmed up so much.

The One-Minute Stair Challenge

Carla's focus for the week is stair climbing, and she chose it for a very specific reason: it's accessible to almost everyone. "If you don't have stairs at home, you can go to a mall and you can use the stairs there. You can go to a football field and use the stairs there."

But the beauty of this workout is that you don't even need to leave your house. Carla demonstrates right from her own staircase, using nothing more than a regular Fitbit to set a one-minute timer.

Three Levels for Everyone

1. **Just Starting Out:** Use the railing for support and go at your own pace. Confidence and safety first. 2. **Ready for More:** Pick up the speed to a light jog up and down. 3. **Want a Challenge:** Take every other stair going up, singles going down for safety.

One minute. That's all. "That's all you have to do to get started."

The Reality Fitness Philosophy

This is the heart of what Carla teaches: fitness doesn't have to be intimidating, expensive, or time-consuming. It starts with one step. One minute. One morning. And then you build from there.

"2020 is gonna be our year for getting in shape and doing it in the way that's maintainable. This is about Reality Fitness. No more buts."

No more buts. Just start. That's the message that has resonated with thousands, and it's as relevant today as ever.
